• This intensive course was created using the video recordings from the 'Live' version of the ZBrush for illustrators workshop. - How many hours of content in Zbrush Illustrator?
• There are 10 core lessons in the course and each video is around 90 minutes (some are a bit longer). In total you get around 15 hours of content plus the additional bonus videos. - What's the difference with the 'live' workshop?
• The main difference between the intensive course and the previous live workshop is purely the 'live' or 'interactive' aspect between me and the attendees of the original 'live workshop'. The recordings contain EVERYTHING that was covered in the workshop including answering questions from the students, so you won't be missing anything. - What exactly is covered in the lessons in Zbrush Illustrator?
• I walk you throughout the entire pipeline (pre-production, production and post-production stages) and personal tools I use to create a comic style illustration:
• Pre-Production: Planing, References, folder structure, inspiration & modboard, Sketching and concept, material testing, sculpting techniques for 2D comic style.
• Production: Asset creation, custom resources, block assets, blocking a scene, sculpting details, sculpting brushes, 3D layout and composition, NPR filers, render settings, Document setup, render passes.
• Post-Production: Render testing, compositing render passes for linework, document setup for colouring, masking and selections from 3D work, Colouring, colour correction and textures. - What software do I need?
• The two software that are essential to successfully complete the intensive course are: ZBrush and Photoshop. I also use Krita (free illustration software) to demonstrate additional techniques for sketching. Other apps/software I use are PureRef to organise references and EpicPen to draw on the screen and take notes. - Can I work on my own concept?
• Absolutely, I encourage you to try and produce your own ideas, but you can also follow the concept I made to create the final illustration. The whole purpose of this course is to provide you with the tools, steps and a system that can be reproduce on any project you want to tackle... so the 'subject' and 'theme' are totally up to you! - I'm a beginner, would this work for me?
Although I go through all the concepts from the beginning and explain the features I use, it is advisable to have a basic knowledge of ZBrush and Photoshop. Basic knowledge of ZBrush in the context of this course refers to:
